FORMER Millwall defender Byron Webster has been put in temporary charge of Bromley after boss Andy Woodman left the club following the “mutual termination” of his contract on Thursday.

Bromley are 23rd in the League One table with eight points from ten games. They have conceded 25 goals, the most in the Football League.

The Ravens lost 4-0 at home to Leicester City on Tuesday night, their third defeat in a row and the third time in the league this season they had conceded at least four goals.

In a statement on the club’s website, Ravens chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves said: “I would firstly like to offer my sincere thanks to Andy for all he has achieved during his time with us.

“It’s no surprise that this club has reached new heights and Andy has been fundamental in helping us achieve that.

“I would like to reassure our supporters that we will be entering this new chapter with the same ambition and determination to keep moving this football club forward.

“On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future.”

After being appointed in 2021, Woodman led the club to the FA Trophy and into the Football League for the first time in their 132-year history after Webster scored the winning penalty against Solihull Moors in the National League play-off final in 2024.

Woodman led the side to the League Two title last season.

Early frontrunners to replaced Woodman were former York City boss Stuart Maynard, Blackburn Rovers assistant manager Mike Dodds, Barnet’s Dean Brennan and ex-Swansea City chief Luke Williams.

Webster is set to lead the side against Peterborough United at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
