BIRMINGHAM City will reportedly pay Fulham up to £20million for Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.

Stansfield, 21, signed a seven-year deal at St Andrew’s on transfer deadline day.

The fee smashed Blues’ transfer record, the £6.3million they paid for Ivan Šunjić from Dinamo Zagreb in 2019.

Reports claim that Fulham will receive a guaranteed £15million with £5million in add-ons. There is also £100,000 to be paid if Birmingham are promoted to the Championship.

The previous highest fee paid by a League One club is thought to be £4million by Sunderland to Wigan Athletic for forward Will Grigg.

Stansfield scored thirteen goals in 47appearances on loan at Blues last season.

Birmingham, who are bankrolled by Tom Wagner and former New England Patriots quarter-back Tom Brady, spent more than £30million on transfers this summer.
