FORMER Tottenham Hotspur and Millwall forward Troy Parrott got off the mark for his new club AZ Alkmaar in spectacular style with a four-goal burst in a 9-1 rout of Heerenveen at the weekend.
Parrott, 22, scored one before he break before adding three more against former Arsenal striker Roin van Persie’s side.
Parrott hadn’t scored in his first four games but that haul is already more than he scored in loan spells at Millwall, Ipswich Town and Preston North End.
Parrott spent last season on loan at another Eredivisie side, Excelsior, where he scored ten goals in 24 league games before leaving Spurs for AZ in a £6.7million deal in the summer.
The result moved AZ into second place in the Dutch Eredivisie behind PSV Eindhoven.
“Obviously for me as a striker it’s disappointing not to score in the previous games because I always want to score goals,” Parrott said. “But I don’t stress over these things, it’s normal, this is football you can’t play every game perfect.
“I understand this and I believe in my own ability and I believe the team that we’ve got here is a really good team and we will create chances, and tonight that happened and I was there.”
