TOM Bradshaw revealed his excitement at working with “great manager” Gary Rowett after completing a permanent move to Oxford United following six-and-a-half years with Millwall.
Bradshaw, 32, was the Lions’ record signing at £1million when he joined from Barnsley in 2018. He went on to score 45 goals in 2010 appearances in all competitions.
Bradshaw enjoyed his best season in the Championship under Rowett in 2022-23 when he scored seventeen league goals as the Lions finished a point off the play-offs, missing out on the final day with their 4-3 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
“The cherry on top is getting to work with Gary, someone I know really well. He was my coach for four years at Millwall and I know what he wants,” Bradshaw said on Oxford’s website.
“He is very experienced and a great manager in this league. He solidifies teams to make them hard to beat and as a striker I know how he wants me to stretch the pitch and do the defensive side also.
“We defend as a team and attack as a team, and that’s something I can bring and something I know he wants.”
Bradshaw described what he would try to bring to the team. He said: “My main target is to score goals and get wins for the team. I’m a sort of fox-in-the-box player – you won’t see me scoring many 30-yard screamers.
“My bread and butter is six yards out and getting on the end of crosses. For me, it doesn’t matter how they go in, as long as they do.
“I’m a hard-working player who will leave everything out on the pitch. I strive off scoring goals and if a chance doesn’t come in a game, then I will give everything I can to help others score.
“The most important thing for me is to win, and I’m excited to play in front of the fans and help the team deliver results.”
