Fulham reject Saudi bid for striker

Fulham are determined to keep hold of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic after snubbing an initial £25.5 million offer from Al-Hilal.

The Saudi Arabian big spenders are keen to add Mitrovic to their ranks having already splashed the cash to snap up Ruben Neves from Wolves and Kalidou Koulibaly from Fulham’s neighbours Chelsea this summer.

Serbian international Mitrovic has become a vital talisman at Craven Cottage since initially arriving on loan from Newcastle five years ago, a move which soon became a £22m full-time switch.

The 28-year-old has scored 111 times for the Whites but Sky Sports claim he would like to quit Premier League Fulham and complete the switch to Al-Hilal.

However, Fulham are reluctant to cash in and the BBC say they quickly rejected the attempt by the Saudis to land their prolific targetman.

It remains to be seen whether an improved offer will be forthcoming but Al-Hilal are unlikely to be deterred by Fulham’s stance, even though Mitrovic is under contract at Craven Cottage for another three years.

Meanwhile, young central defender Idane Bowat has penned a new three-year deal with Fulham.

The Scotland U21 international joined the Cottagers from Chelsea’s academy in 2017 but has yet to make a first team appearance.

Bowat spent the second half of last season on loan in Den Bosch representing the Dutch side 16 times.

Now he is on his way to Austrian outfit TSV Hartberg in a similar loan switch which will last for the entire upcoming campaign.

Despite this, Bowat still remains firmly in Fulham’s long-term plans and so the Cottagers have extended his stay until 2026.
