JOHNNIE Jackson says Charlie Lakin’s positive attitude played a key role in persuading him to sign the Burton Albion midfielder on loan.
The 24-year-old today agreed to join AFC Wimbledon until January, becoming Jackson’s 11th signing of what has been a busy period of recruitment since the end of last season.
Lakin boasts a CV which includes spells at Birmingham City, Stevenage, Ross County, Doncaster and the Brewers.
And Jackson was certainly impressed by what he had to hear from his latest capture.
The Plough Lane manager told afcwimbledon.co.uk: “Charlie’s an experienced midfield player, he’s played a lot at our level.
“He comes with a really good pedigree. He’s a fit boy, he can run all day, he’s got bundles of energy.
“I really think he’ll fit into our style and the way we want to go about things.
“As with most of the signings this summer, the enthusiasm and the appetite from the lad when I spoke to him about coming here was infectious.
“He wants to be a part of what we’re doing and has seen how we’ve started the season.
“In recent games we’ve found ourselves a bit light in that position, so he’s here to help us.”
Lakin can’t wait to show the Dons faithful what he is capable of and even though he will have to earn his place in an unbeaten League Two side, the midfielder is keen to break into the first team quickly.
He said: “I’m here to show my strengths and contribute as much as I can to the team.
“I’m coming into a good team that’s looking to score goals. I love to get on the ball and create so the style suits me.
“There’s a lot of good players here but I’m confident in my abilities to prove myself.
“I want to get in the starting eleven and stay in there.”
