MILLWALL have confirmed the signing of midfielder Casper De Norre from Oud-Heverlee Leuven.
It is their second deal of the day after The Lions announced an hour ago that they had also secured defender Wes Harding.
De Norre is a versatile 26-year-old who is capable of playing at full-back in addition to midfield. He joins on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.
Director of Football Operations and Recruitment Alex Aldridge said: “Casper is a player who we have pursued throughout the summer so we are delighted to have reached an agreement to bring him to Millwall before the start of the new season.”
“He has been a key player for OH Leuven for a number of years and at 26 is entering the prime of his career, having played more than 150 games in the Belgian League as well as in European competitions with Genk.
“Casper will be a strong addition to Gary’s midfield options as we continue to assemble our squad in this transfer window.”
He has signed from Belgian First Division club OH Leuven, where had been playing for the last three years, with the initial season on loan.
De Norre had previously been at Genk where he won the Belgian title in 2019. He also faced off against the likes of Liverpool and Napoli in the Champions League group stage during the 2019-20 season.
De Norre is the fourth signing of the summer, following Kevin Nisbet who signed from Hibernian and Joe Bryan and Harding, both who were free deals.
He will join up with his new teammates ahead of Tuesday’s home friendly against Charlton, subject to work permit processes being completed.
Millwall enjoyed good fortunes last year when they turned to the overseas market.
Zian Flemming was signed last summer from Fortuna Sittard and enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign at The Den.
Andreas Voglsammer also enjoyed good moments last season after joining from Union Berlin.
