Poch determined to end poor home form against Bees

MAURICIO Pochettino is looking for his Chelsea side to finally put an end to their home hoodoo when Brentford visit Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

The Pensioners have won just once in their last dozen Premier League games in SW6 and that solitary success came against Luton.

Last weekend Chelsea were seemingly on course to enjoy another rare home success when leading 2-0 against Arsenal with just 13 minutes remaining.

But the Gunners staged a late comeback to seal a point and now Poch is challenging his young side to make the most of a quick opportunity to give the Stamford Bridge faithful that winning feeling again against the Bees.

“It is really important,” the manager said.

“I think we need to create our run at home, we need to start to win.

“We need to project the image that we are solid and consistent in front of our fans. We are desperate to show our fans that we can get the three points at home.

“It is going to be a tough game because they are a very good team and they are doing very, very well.

“I think it is a very tough team to play against.

“They use two different formations – sometimes they can play with 1-4-3-3 or 1-5-3-2. We will see.

“I think we are ready to face a team that is a very good team and with good players. It is a nice challenge for us tomorrow.”

Brentford have won their last two visits to the Bridge and tomorrow Pochettino will be taking on Thomas Frank for the first time, someone who has impressed the Argentine.

“He is doing a fantastic job in a club that of course can develop his job and his ideas,” said the Blues boss.

“I think he is doing a fantastic job in England.”

Despite the disappointment of that Arsenal comeback, Chelsea have collected seven points from nine so far in October.

That is evidence an improvement is definitely underway under the new boss but he accepts they are still some distance from where he wants his side to be.

Poch explained: “Yes, far away. I don’t measure in metres, centimetres or kiolmetres, but we talk about results and performances and we need to still improve.

“Of course, we need to recover all our players because from the beginning that (injuries) didn’t help, but at the moment we need to improve in different areas in the way that we want.

“We are building a very strong team.

“The mentality is there, much better than when we started. We are happy in the way we are evolving from day one, but it is still far away from what we expect from our team and from us.

“We are Chelsea and we know that our profile is massive and always we need to win.”
