QUEENS Park Rangers boss Marti Cifuentes said his side need the “incredible support” of their fans in Saturday’s relegation six-pointer against Cardiff City at Loftus Road.
Only five points separate QPR in fifteenth from the Bluebirds in 22nd, the last relegation spot.
“We need effort from all of us, from the players, from the staff, and as well from the fans,” Cifuentes said.
“They need to help us in this moment that we’re struggling. They have been an incredible support but, at the same time, I need to say that we need them more than ever.
“I know that many of the fans are disappointed about the last couple of months. I would say the last games have not been at the levels that we expected, and it’s fair, but we need now to stay together to make sure we achieve the main target, and the main target is to make sure that we get those 50 points, and that’s why I think that tomorrow is such an important game where all of us need to bring the very best of us.
“I feel like tomorrow we need them more than ever. The reality is that unfortunately in the last games we have not been as good as we would like, and the reality is that we need to be better. But tomorrow we need them, tomorrow we need everybody.
“I know that at the end of the game, if we get the three points, the feeling will be really, really strong.
“My job is to make sure the players start on the front foot and to make sure that we give everything we have got, but hopefully we are going to get this extra mile, extra energy from our fans.”
While QPR have lost five and drawn one of their last six games, Cardiff have taken four points from their last two.
Cifuentes said: “They have the capacity to change from game to game, to adjust a lot to the opposition, but at the same time, they’ve got some quality players, players that have pace to build counters, as well as players that are reliable when it comes to being aggressive in and out of possession,” he explained.
“It’s very important for us to understand what kind of game we can expect, and at the same time, make sure that we start on the front foot.”
Meanwhile, Sam Field is back available for selection after being out since February.
Cifuentes added: “He has been training at a high level and feeling good during the whole week, so he’s definitely an important player for us to be back.
“Not only because of his strength as a player, but at the same time, because he’s one of the leaders, one of the captains, and in a game like this, we really think it’s very positive news for the team.”
