The Colour Noise, in partnership with Greenwich Theatre, announced their production of Conor McPherson’s Olivier and Tony Award-nominated dark comedy, The Seafarer. Running from 13 to 24 October 2026.
This supernatural tale brings a chilling Dublin Christmas Eve straight to South East London for a strictly limited run.
Set in a coastal suburb of Dublin, The Seafarer centres on James “Sharky” Harkin, an alcoholic trying to stay sober while caring for his irascible, blind brother, Richard. On a bleak Christmas Eve their drinking and bickering spirals into a high-stakes psychological game of poker when a mysterious stranger, Mr. Lockhart arrives to play for a prize that has been decades in the making…
Director Ian Higham says “I’m delighted to be collaborating with Greenwich Theatre and The Colour Noise to helm this milestone 20th-anniversary production, marking the play’s first major London revival since its original National Theatre premiere. This exceptionally talented cast brings the characters viscerally to life, resulting in a truly unforgettable theatrical experience.”
Hailed as a flawless blend of rich Irish wit, raw family drama, and unsettling paranormal dread, McPherson’s play examines redemption, guilt, and the ghosts that refuse to leave us behind. Starring Eugene Duffy as Sharky, Ian Cooke as Richard, James Ross Turner as Ivan, Nick Thomas as Nicky and Matthew Flexman as the sinister Mr. Lockhart.
Performances will take place at the Main House of the Greenwich Theatre, Crooms Hill, London SE10 8ES from 13 to 24 October 2026. With a running time of approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes and an age recommendation of 14+, tickets are expected to sell fast ahead of the autumn theatre season.
