Ready To Wear, a new one-man musical with Book, Music & Lyrics by Rachel Garnet (Star Crossed / The Standard Short Long Drop) follows the great fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent as he embarks on the daring act of opening his eponymous fashion house.
Through whimsy and sincerity, across one intimate day, the audience watches in real time as Yves forges, in front of their eyes, the first piece of his revolutionary ready to wear line.
Having been fired from Dior, abused in the military, and hospitalised after a suicide attempt, Yves dares to make art again…
Ready To Wear will get its first public presentation at 1.30pm on Wednesday 15 October as part of Musical Bites, a season of musicals in development presented by The Other Palace and Mercury Musical Developments in the bar of The Other Palace.
The Musical Bites series at The Other Palace is a unique initiative that gives audiences a taste of brand-new musicals during their lunch hour. Each event features a 45-minute excerpt of a work in progress, performed live from The Other Palace bar, with an opportunity to provide feedback directly to the writers.
All ticket revenue goes straight to the creative team, helping support the development of new British musicals.
