A new musical Pinocchio
Shakespeare’s Globe is delighted to announce the cast of new musical Pinocchio, premiering in the Globe Theatre from 29 November and running throughout the festive period until 4 January.
Pinocchio is directed by Globe Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes (Romeo and Juliet, Globe), with book and lyrics by Charlie Josephine (Cowbois, RSC / Royal Court), and music and lyrics by Jim Fortune (Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear).
The cast comprises Lee Braithwaite as Pinocchio, Jennifer Caldwell as Ensemble / Swing, Michael Elcock as Carpenter / Rabbit Prince Charming, Kerry Frampton as Fox, Jamal Franklin as Ensemble / Swing, Ed Gaughan as Stromboli, Nick Holder as Geppetto, Lizzy Ives as Ensemble / Swing, Lucy McCormick as Blue Fairy / Cat, Kody Mortimer as Ensemble / Swing, and Steven Webb as Jiminy Cricket / Coachman. Stan Middleton, Aya Nakamura and Andrea Sadler join the company as Puppeteers. Pinocchio was cast by Becky Paris CDG, Head of Casting at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Associate Artistic Director and Director of Pinocchio, Sean Holmes, said: “It’s a privilege to be part of the team bringing this magical new musical to the Globe this Christmas. Like the story itself we hope the production makes the impossible possible.”
Pinocchio is designed by Grace Smart, with Peter O’Rourke as Puppetry Director and Designer, Tony Gayle as Sound Designer, Zac Gvi as Orchestrator, Roberta Zuric as Associate Director, Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu as Choreographer, and Benjamin Holder as Musical Director.
Two interactive workshops for young people and their grown-ups offer fun opportunities to engage with the enchanting world of Pinocchio. The Puppetry and Drama Workshop for 5-8-year-olds explores the story, characters and puppetry of Pinocchio through fun activities led by a Globe practitioner. For 9-12-year-olds, a companion workshop explores the tale through performance and puppetry. Both workshops run from 29 November to 20 December 2025.
