Every man’s life touches the lives of so many others

A bitterly cold Christmas Eve. Down in the basement of Jermyn Street Theatre FM, six actors gather round the microphone and a piano for a live radio broadcast. The ON AIR sign flashes red. We’re whisked away to Upstate New York where George Bailey stands on a bridge, ready to jump. Enter unlikely hero Clarence Odbody. Can this second-class angel convince George that life is worth living and finally earn his wings?

Jessica Lazar directs Stefan Bednarczyk, Mary Higgins, Iniki Mariano, Griffin Stevens, David Webber, and Lachlan Werner in an inventive production of that transforms the intimate Jermyn Street Theatre into a 1940s radio studio, with Bednarczyk also performing live piano on stage.

Anthony E. Palermo’s adaptation is based on Capra’s film, which is based on Philip Van Doren Stern’s short story The Greatest Gift. The six actors will use multi-roling, live music, and sound effects to create a charming festive treat for audiences.

Jessica Lazar today said, “Almost every actor in It’s A Wonderful Life plays twelve roles or more, and the skill it takes to do that well is rare, extraordinary, and a joy to watch. Building this ensemble was demanding but full of fun. I can’t wait to begin rehearsals.”

Jermyn Street Theatre, 16B Jermyn Street, London, SW1Y 6ST from 19th November – 3er January.
