Strange voices whisper in the white noise
A new show is being devised especially for the Little Auditorium at Southwark Playhouse Borough by the writer and director of the smash-hit ‘Immersive Mysteries’ series.
Do not listen to the tape. Strange things happen to anyone who hears the voices.
‘Sherlock’s Last Tape’ is a mystery told through the archive of police tapes, old VHS footage and the horrors of slow loading internet, a mysterious man named ‘S’ outlines three cases on the dangers of being online. But not everything is as it seems, as reality seems to unfurl and strange voices whisper in the white noise. Sherlock’s Last Tape is based on three Sherlock Holmes short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, re-imagined into the technological era.
Perviously, Rosanna Mallinson’s ‘Immersive Mystery Series’ ran in various unique site-specific spaces for 5 years. It was well received by critics and adored by fans, racking up hundreds of five star audience reviews. The series sadly ended in the Covid-19 crisis, along with many immersive experiences. Unlike her previous work, ‘Sherlocks Last Tape’ will be a traditional “sit-down” theatre experience in the form of a lecture at a police academy. However, the audience can still expect to be fully immersed in the world, with jump-scares, blackouts, a full 360 sound design and more than a few unexpected tricks and twists.
“I’m so excited to be returning to Southwark Playhouse and explore how to blend physical theatre with this fascinating new wave of horror that is happening, as well as bringing in my experience in immersive world building.” Rosanna Mallinson (Writer and Director).
