Mitrovic saga drags on as Fulham owner blasts Saudi spending

Aleksander Mitrovic’s future remains up in the air as the striker continues to push for a Craven Cottage exit.

The Serbian striker is reportedly determined to seal a move to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal, although Fulham are reluctant to cash in on their prize asset having reportedly already knocked back a £35million bid.

Fulham are believed to want £52m to secure Mitrovic’s services, a figure the player is furious about as it could potentially put off even megabucks Al Hilal.

Sky Sports report the 28-year-old has told family members he will never represent the Cottagers again, although he is currently with Marco Silva’s squad on their American pre-season tour.

But now Fulham owner Tony Khan has publicly blasted the way Al Hilal and other Saudi Arabian clubs are splashing the cash this summer, even indirectly referencing the 2018 assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

Khan told the Dan Le Batard Show: “It’s amazing and I think if you have enough money you can get away with anything, including murder, and try to sign all the top players in the world.”

The Whites owner also reiterated his determination to see off any further unwanted Saudi interest and ensure Mitrovic remains a Fulham player.

“They’ve certainly approached a lot of great players but we’re committed to keeping our stars,” said Khan.

Fulham are reportedly still interested in adding Southampton’s England international James Ward-Prowse to their squad.

However, they face competition from West Ham who now finally have more than £100m in the bank after Declan Rice finally completed his switch to Arsenal.

The Irons are also rumoured to be keen on landing Joao Palhinha from Fulham.
