KEALY Adamson feels this Queens Park Rangers side is “a little bit different” after the Hoops won their opening league game for the first time since 20220.

Portsmouth took the lead at Fratton Park through Terry Devlin before Ilias Chair’s two goals either side of a strike by Koki Saito, all before half-time.

The only negative was an injury to Boy Kemper, but that gave Adamson his chance when he came on in the 23rd minute.

“Our kit man was saying we haven’t had a win in the first league game of the season for a long time, so that was really important,” Adamson said.

“I think it shows this group is a little bit different, and a bit more connected, and we’ve got the quality to give it a good red hot crack this season.

“We’ve done double training days galore this summer, and now we’ve reached August I think we’ll be firing on all cylinders.”

QPR finished fifteenth last season in Julien Stephan’s first campaign in charge.

Adamson said: “Transition was our biggest strength last year, and we really tried to lean into that. It felt like the boys were seeing similar pictures, and they were executing and able to finish with goals.

“We had a few moments where we could have threatened more and gone on to get a fourth, so that’s something to work on.”

QPR host Bolton Wanderers on Saturday (3pm).
