BOSS Gareth Ainsworth believes the good times are coming at QPR despite losing again today.
The Hoops put in a spirited display at home to Ipswich Town with Sinclair Armstrong, Ossie Kakay and Vaclav Hlakdy all unfortunate not to score.
Ipswich made the hosts pay when Conor Chaplin struck the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time to consign Ainsworth’s side to a second Championship defeat from three games.
Lively attacker Armstrong was replaced by fellow youngster Rayan Kolli 20 minutes into the second half as a precaution shortly before Sam Field made way for Elijah Dixon-Bonner.
Ainsworth felt it was better to be safe than sorry considering QPR’s injury woes last season, but promised fans will notice a big improvement once everyone is fully up to speed.
He said: “Sinclair came off with cramp and that often leads to injury so we made that decision. He is going to get fitter and we know that.
“He is so powerful and so explosive. At times he will blow up and we have to work on that.
“We made a decision this season to ramp the fitness up slower than usual because we had so many injuries and so many reoccurrences last season, and that’s what killed this football club.”
Ainsworth added: “We have some quality but the best ability is availability, we need them out on the pitch and that’s really important.
“Sam Field picked up a knock in a big tackle, but I am sure he will be fine.
“We will be ramping this fitness up and if I’m honest you will probably see the best of QPR after the international break.
“But I firmly believe there are exciting times ahead for this football club and I am so proud to be at the helm.
“People are writing us off and that’s fine by me, we are at our best when people do that.
“We are taking 3,000 to Southampton next weekend and I can’t wait.”
QPR travel to St Mary’s next Saturday to take on the Saints at 3pm.
