CHARLTON’S latest addition Tennai Watson is convinced the Addicks can match his own ambition.

The versatile defender this morning penned a two-year deal at The Valley having been released by MK Dons at the end of last season.

Watson, 26, spent two years with the Buckinghamshire club, scoring twice in 58 appearances.

He came through the ranks at Reading and during his time with the Royals enjoyed loan spells with AFC Wimbledon and Coventry City.

Now Watson is looking to establish himself as a regular in SE7, claiming his latest club have big plans similar to his own.

“I’m really pleased to have signed,” he said.

“Charlton are a big club with an ambition that aligns with mine.

“The main thing for me is to get playing, try and impact the team in as positive a way as I can and, as a group of boys, achieve something this season.”

Technical director Andy Scott believes Watson’s arrival will improve competition for the full-backs already at Charlton.

Scott said: “He is hungry to come and challenge for the full-back positions against our two very talented players already at the club in Nathan Asiimwe and Tayo Edun.

“In those three we have competition for places with exciting young hungry players with excellent attitudes and ambition.”
