The Victoria in Bermondsey is having a reunion this Saturday October 1, as this traditional little gem of a pub as seen cuistomer from nearly half a century demand a get-together.

Despite the area losing more pubs then anywhere else in the capital in the last few decades the Vic on Pages Walk as stood proud of its traditional roots and very little of the pub’s interior has changed since brothers Pat and Mike McKenna took it over in 1984.

Moving into the boozer from the nearby Arnold Estate the brothers have built up a strong and loyal customer base over the years. While new customers have been attracted by its old school charm the pub often has many old residents dropping in from Kent and further afield.

“We bowed to pressure from our friends who’ve wanted us to do this for some time,” Mike told the News as he announced that while they were at it they would be raising money on the night for Breast Cancer Now charity.

“So it was about time that we organised some sort of moriarty. Well, you know how many locals have left the area in the past few decades. We also felt that seeing as so many of us were going to be there we ought to try and raise some lolly for charity.

“We chose Breast Cancer Now because it has affected so many families that we know. I talked to the guys there and they explained how the donations really do go to people who need it, to invest in research or to specialist nurses.

“On the night we’ll obviously be passing around collecting tins and asking people to donate. It all helps.”

The pub has also set up a JustGiving page you can donate HERE

The fun starts at 7pm on Saturday at the pub on Pages Walk, SE1
