London’s largest fibre broadband provider, Community Fibre, has today announced that thousands of Southwark residents and businesses can now access its award-winning, 100% full fibre broadband.

The ongoing build throughout Southwark is part of Community Fibre’s target to connect 2.2 million homes and businesses across the capital by the end of 2024. As the broadband provider accelerates across the city, the internet provider will aim to serve more than half of the 3.7 million homes in the city.

Unlike other providers, Community Fibre builds, owns and operates its fibre network, and therefore does not rely on BT Openreach or other providers to deliver fast and reliable 100% full fibre broadband directly into individual properties.

Launched in 2013, Community Fibre has so far connected 32 of London’s boroughs to its fibre network. It is rated the #1 Internet Service Provider on Trustpilot, with 96% of its reviews rated 5-star (December), commanding an excellent score of 4.9.

Those in Southwark can now choose to sign up for faster internet speeds offered at varied price packages depending on the provider. This includes wired speeds up to 3,000 Mbps, which is up to 50x faster than the UK average download speed & 280x faster than the UK average upload speed. Southwark businesses will also be able to enjoy 100% full fibre connectivity with business broadband package speeds up to 10,000 Mbps.

Community Fibre is currently running a 12-month half-price Christmas sale on both its 200 Mbps and 500 Mbps fibre broadband packages. At just £18.75/month for the first 12-months on a 24-month contract, Londoners can get their hands on its 500 Mbps, which is ideal for family households with heavy usage on multiple devices, 4k streaming, gaming, and downloading.

The provider also recently announced that it will only implement a £2 out of contract price increase on all its broadband packages for new customers, in a bid to set a new industry standard by openly challenging other broadband providers to do the same. Its £2 out of contract price increase, which has already been implemented for existing customers, also includes the flexibility for customers to continue with their broadband package on a 30-day rolling contract at just £2 more or cancel with just 30 days’ notice. This announcement comes following a 114% year-on-year search increase for ‘how to leave my broadband contract’, as consumers look to shop around for the best deals available to them.

Community Fibre’s mission is to deliver 100% full fibre broadband to all the London communities it serves, helping to provide residents with opportunities for education, training, employment, social inclusion, and community projects. As part of its investment and fibre network build, Community Fibre has provided free 1,000 Mbps 100% full fibre broadband connections to 167 community spaces across South London, in boroughs including Southwark, as well as Lambeth, Sutton and Wandsworth.

Community Fibre is also passionate about giving back to the local communities and has its own team of Digital Ambassadors who are always on hand to provide local, digital skills training workshops. To provide support and education to those who require new digital skills, Community Fibre trains members of the community to become qualified Digital Ambassadors, to digitally empower people within the community. Skills taught at local sessions can range from the basics of how to use email and social media, to website building and helping residents stay connected. Head to its website to find out more.

Commenting on its 100% full fibre rollout across Southwark, Graeme Oxby, CEO of Community Fibre, commented: “At Community Fibre, we believe that everyone should have access to the best internet to ensure growth and greater opportunities for all. Closing the digital divide is our priority. Therefore, we are focused on accelerating our full fibre rollout to facilitate better internet for everyone supported by our Community Investments and Digital Ambassadors programme.

We are pleased to be working with our local Council partners to bring London’s fastest internet to Londoners in Southwark at the best prices, which has held a 4.9 ‘Excellent’ Trustpilot score and 96% 5-star reviews (December) for the past three years.”
