ANDRE Dozzell believes QPR finally got their just rewards in Saturday’s memorable 2-0 win at Middlesbrough.

The Hoops have delivered some impressive displays since their opening day 4-0 drubbing at Watford, although more often than not the outcome has been the same in terms of points gained.

But there was to be no repeat of a familiar defeat at the Riverside, as Dozzell bagged his first for the club with a stunning strike just before the break with Jack Colback adding a second on 71 minutes.

Dozzell told QPR’s YouTube channel: “It’s a great win for us. We’ve obviously had two disappointing results which we don’t think matched the performance, so it was just about putting the performance and result together.

“It is a great away win and hopefully we can build on it.

“The boss has put me in a different role which I haven’t been playing but I don’t mind.

“I will play wherever the gaffer wants me to play and I’ll work hard for the club and him.

“We got the three points today and it is working at the minute so we’ve just got to keep building on it.”

Defender Dozzell admitted he has been aiming to be more ambitious when he ventures forward and certainly delivered with an unstoppable effort from outside with two minutes remaining of the first-half.

He said: “I’m looking to shoot more so I’ve just got to get my head to shoot. I just went for it and I see it was hitting the post.

“I didn’t know if it was going to bounce out but I was just happy it went in. It was a good moment for me.

“It is a great feeling – it is about time I scored. It was early doors, so we still had another half to go.

“We just had to keep our heads, keep working.

“All the team put a shift in and we came away with three points.”

And Dozzell is aiming to build on the Boro result when QPR return to Loftus Road after the international break at home to Sunderland on Saturday week.

He said: “The fans have travelled a long way so we’ve just got to show our gratitude and everything.

“We know how hard it can be to come all the way over here and support us, so we are grateful for them and hopefully we can keep giving them three points.”

Dozzell added: “We just want to build on this as soon as possible, but this (international break) is football. We will just keep working hard on the training pitch and we will be ready for Sunderland.

“We can make Loftus Road into a fortress.

“The performance we gave against Ipswich we thought we could come away with a bit more than we did.

“We are confident and if we keep playing like we have, then I’m sure the results will come.”
