AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson believes his side did more than enough to secure something from yesterday’s 1-0 home defeat to Bradford.
The Dons went into the game looking to extend their unbeaten run but instead were beaten by Emmanuel Osadebe’s 62nd minute winner for the Bantams.
It was hard to take for the Plough Lane chief, who also questioned why James Tilley had not been awarded a late penalty which could have rescued a point.
Jackson told the club’s YouTube channel: “I thought we had enough chances to win the game, let alone get something out of it. To come away having got beat is really frustrating and hard to take.
“I think they’ve had two chances in the game, the goal and then one a bit later on when we are chasing it.
“We’ve had numerous good chances, probably four or five real clearcut chances – one just before they score and they go down the other end and score. We have a clearcut penalty that gets turned down as well so I’m frustrated.
“There was some good stuff but also we’ve got to be disappointed that we’ve come away with nothing.
“We have to look at ourselves and the chances that we’ve missed and be annoyed.”
Wimbledon may well have been the better team but that was scant consolation for the manager who felt his side failed to take on board what they’d been told about Bradford in the build-up to the game.
Jackson said: “I don’t feel satisfied because we’ve lost and we shouldn’t have lost so there is no satisfaction in that.
“I think the performance level was still good. Was it as good as we have been in recent weeks?
“Perhaps not but we still limited a good team to very, very little and created enough.
“I’d still like to create more but we created enough to win a game, but we haven’t taken any of them and that bit is on us. The penalty bit, that is on the referee.
“Them scoring a soft goal is something that we spoke about all week about their threats.
“Conceding that goal is really annoying.”
The defeat sees Wimbledon drop out of the play-off places and down to eighth in League Two and now Jackson is demanding an instant response next weekend at Barrow.
He said: “My message to the boys is we should be annoyed and frustrated with ourselves because we’ve done enough to win a football match.
“But last time we lost a game we went on a really good run after that. We recovered and went five unbeaten, won three and drew two , so we need that response now.
“We haven’t become a poor team overnight. We are a good team.
“Bradford are a decent side and in my mind we were the dominant team in the game and we should be getting something from it so we have to remember that.
“We will get back to work on Monday working on the stuff we are good at and try and put it right next week.”
