NEW QPR boss Marti Cifuentes says he will not be happy if his side claim a third straight draw at Norwich City this weekend.
The Spaniard has overseen two stalemates since taking over from Gareth Ainsworth, securing a 1-1 draw at relegation rivals before shutting out Bristol City in his first Loftus Road game before the international break.
In theory, another share of the spoils at the Canaries on Saturday might sound a decent result considering the Carrow Road’s side recent Premier League pedigree and spending power in the Championship.
But Cifuentes was having none of it when asked by the club’s YouTube channel.
He said: “Look, I understand that over the last (few) months probably it hasn’t been easy for the fans, for the supporters.
“I really like the support that they are showing to the team and to me since our arrival , but at the same time I think that with this club we can do better than just be happy with a draw.
“We need to make sure that we have the mindset that every game we play – it doesn’t matter if we are playing at Old Trafford – that we are going to win.
“Because that’s the aim of football, isn’t it?
“I really want people to keep supporting as they do, but we need to make sure that on the pitch we make them dream a little bit more than not just getting a point.
“We will see after the performance if we get a point, but I can tell you right now that I will not be happy if we get a point.”
QPR have only found the target 11 times this season, the second lowest tally in the division.
The recent blank against Bristol City would have demonstrated clearly to Cifuentes things need to quickly improve in front of goal, even if the boss was reluctant to publicly single it out as an issue.
He explained: “I would like to think we need to be better in all phases of the game, in all of them.
“It is true that when we look at the last two performances there have been a lot of good things and that is why we are encouraged.
“But we need to be aware that by drawing that is not enough so far, so the results have not been what we were looking for.
“We need to make sure that we keep this performance improvement because that will give us the results.
“So far I think there have been a lot of positive things because especially I see the progress.”
Cifuentes added: “In the last two weeks for instance during this international break, I see a team that has been progressing.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do in the next game because it is going to be a demanding one.
“We are playing against a very good side that has quality players, that has a high tempo.
“It will be a difficult game, always I think to go away to Norwich it is a difficult game, but at the same time I’m optimistic about seeing a team that I’m sure will compete well.”
