ARMANI Little wants Wimbledon’s home improvement to continue after Swindon became the latest side to be put to the Plough Lane sword on Saturday.
The Dons’ impressive early start to the campaign was largely down to picking up some excellent wins on the road, the home form failing to match up to that by and large.
But there is absolutely no issue at Plough Lane right now, with Swindon beaten 4-0 at the weekend as the Dons moved a point above them in the table and into the play-off zone.
“It’s brilliant,” replied Little when asked about the transformation by the club’s YouTube channel.
“We’ve been scoring quite a few goals recently and I think that is six on the bounce at Plough Lane now.
“It’s good if we can keep winning at home, keep ticking them off and keep climbing up the table.”
Little doubled the advantage given to the Dons by Omar Bugiel’s early opener just before the hour with an audacious long range effort that flew into the top corner.
“I’ve been working a lot in training on setting it up, hitting the ball and adding more goals to my game.
“That’s something I’ve definitely been doing some work on.
“The ball came to me from (Jake) Reevesy and I thought ‘I’m going to have to hit this’.
“Thankfully it went in.”
The Swindon success came in the same week non-league Ramsgate took a 5-0 drubbing in the FA Cup, with Little seeing similarities between the pair.
“Ramsgate sort of played the same way as Swindon so we knew what we had to do during the week. We worked on that,” he explained.
“The game plan worked to a tee and I think the pressure from the boys and the work rate was brilliant today.
“They’ve got some really good players and have scored a lot of goals all season from everywhere in the team.
“We had to be on our game today and we certainly were.
“That came from the front pressing and everyone backing in behind.”
Wimbledon’s final two goals came late on from Ali Al-Hamadi, something which came as no surprise to his team-mate.
“He is such a handful, isn’t he?” said Little.
“The quality that he has for this league he is above it and the way he finished today was brilliant.
“He could have had a hat-trick but I’m sure two is enough for him.”
One of the key factors in Wimbledon’s bright start to the campaign has been Little’s central midfield partnership with Jake Reeves.
“I really enjoy playing with Reevesy,” said Little.
“He is brilliant to play with alongside – I trust him a lot and he trusts me.
“We’ve just got that good partnership and awareness of where each other is on the pitch. It’s coming on well.”
The duo have been regulars in the starting XI for nearly all of the campaign, but Little knows it is a squad game and everyone is contributing to help Wimbledon regain their League One status.
He said: “It starts in training every day and during the week we are preparing for the game everyone knows their job and what is required and asked of them.
“Even the lads that aren’t starting, they are prepared to come on like today.
“We saw the boys come on and made a really good impact.
“It is important we just keep ticking them off, keep working hard in training and then keep climbing the table.”
