Christine and the Queens’ Meltdown is taking place this summer Friday 9 June until Sunday 18 June, exploring Christine and the Queens’ roots in performance and underground culture, as well as the Southbank Centre’s ongoing support of pioneering artists and creators.
Throughout the festival, there will be an immersive concert – ‘Bodies Tilted’ – in the Clore Ballroom at the Southbank Centre from the leading company BitterSuite led by Steph Singer.
Audiences will be blindfolded and taken on a multi-sensory experience to a live score inspired by Christine and the Queens’ music and creative vision. A radical and multifaceted journey for audiences, there will be professional dancers who will guide each member by using the basic elements of movement, touch and scent.
This piece redefines performance; a visceral and 360 degree exploration of the senses. Wayne McGregor company dancer Eileih Muir leads on the choreography with acclaimed culinary maestro Adam Thomason (Captain of The England Culinary Team) collaborating on flavour with 4160 founder Sarah McCartney leading on scent during the production.
If you would rather not participate in the performance, you may also choose to be a witness and watch the performance unfold from the fringes of the stage.
