Let’s ‘Ear it, Walworth

Local arts organisation F.A.T. Studio is running a creative research project called Let’s ‘Ear It in Walworth over the next couple of weeks. Travelling around Walworth parks with a giant ear strapped to their bike, they’ll be listening to residents’ stories about life in the area and how it’s been affected by Coronavirus.

All the stories they gather will, with permission, be added to an ever-growing online exhibition, the beginnings of which can be viewed here on the project website. Why are they doing this? The project is designed to support an important research study at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The overall aim of the study is to deepen understanding of neighbourhood environments and their effect on health and wellbeing. ‘Our work is about creating spaces for voices to be heard.’ said the co-directors of F.A.T. Studio. ‘We hope that by listening to stories of local life and amplifying the voices that tell them, we can contribute to meaningful environmental and social change in our city.’
If you’re a Walworth resident and would like to get involved with the project you can find out more on the project website, follow the instagram or Facebook page or just look out for a giant ear in Burgess Park this weekend.
