The recently published children’s book ‘A robin called Ruben’ is written by the husband and wife team of Mark and Louise Baxter, with Mark also providing the illustrations.

It is the tale of a robin called Ruben who lives in Camberwell and who befriends an elderly lady called Jeannie in Camberwell Green Park. She gives him his breakfast each day and then suddenly she is not around anymore.

Ruben decides to try and find her and on his journey to do so we meet his other friends from the diverse SE5 community, to whom he brings good luck and good memories in exchange for something to eat.

This is Mark’s 18th book and Lou’s first. It is inspired in part by the sad loss of their mothers within a year or so of each other.

The book is priced at £10.00 and ALL proceeds from its sale will go to Dementia charities.
