A one-off performance featuring a host of guests

Shabaka came to prominence within the London music scene playing in the bands Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming and Shabaka and the Ancestors.

At the start of 2024, he announced a hiatus from the saxophone and focused on composing material for the various flutes he had been studying. This was followed by the release of his first solo album Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace. In 2026, he returned to the saxophone on the album Of the Earth, which he wrote, performed, produced and mixed entirely by himself, establishing himself as a leader of some of contemporary jazz’s most vital bands and as a producer.

Collaboration, and the idea of developmental change as central to artistic practice, is the driving force behind Shabaka’s live sets, which are constantly evolving and striving to reflect an up-to-date account of a creative mind in flow.

This special concert is part of Harry Styles’ Meltdown.

Queen Elizabeth Hall. 12th June 8pm.
