Sharp, Dark and Hilarious

Fresh off the success of her sold-out Showgirl tour, Rachel Fairburn is back with Side-Eye, a brand-new 32-date UK tour, writes Luigia Minichiello.

Known for her razor-sharp observations, biting wit, and darkly funny takes on modern life, Fairburn once again proves why she’s one of the most exciting voices in British comedy today.

Her recent Leicester Square Theatre performance, fittingly on International Women’s Day, drew an age-spanning audience, mostly women, with a handful of men sheepishly admitting they’d bought tickets as gifts for their girlfriends.

The show itself is structured in two halves: the first previews her upcoming Edinburgh Fringe set, while the second delivers a more traditional stand-up experience.

What sets Side-Eye apart from her previous work is its unique blend of stand-up and character comedy. Fairburn introduces a hilarious cast of personalities, including a self-proclaimed grime artist/sex therapist/influencer, “Bitch Boss” — a diva with a restraining order; an out-of-touch Dame, an enabling mother, and the dim-witted, chauvinistic, and utterly clueless Jimmy the Podcaster all vying for his attention. In a brilliant twist, Fairburn herself appears as the devil, delivering a sharp moral punchline.

Fairburn’s signature fearless and unfiltered approach is on full display. Whether poking fun at clueless men, breaking down modern relationships, or highlighting society’s absurdities, she delivers it all with sharp wit, a touch of cynicism, and undeniable charm.

In the second half, she doesn’t let up, delivering her trademark sarcastic, no-nonsense humour on everyday irritations. A standout moment? Her take on indecisive sandwich shoppers treating the display like a “sandwich museum.” Her audience interactions are just as sharp, with a hilarious round of “shit town bingo” based on fans’ hometowns.

Many comedy fans know Rachel Fairburn from the cult-favourite podcast All Killa No Filla, but her stand-up career is equally formidable. From Live at The Apollo to House of Games, she has cemented herself as one of the UK’s most original and fearless comedians.

Fans of her classic observational humour won’t be disappointed—Side-Eye is set to be one of her most insightful and hilarious tours yet. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to her work, expect an hour of wickedly cheeky comedy. Tickets go on sale Friday, 26th July—don’t miss the chance to see one of the UK’s finest comics in action.
