Brixton Chamber Orchestra and Pegasus Opera Company present two spectacular open-air performances of The Opera Gala this August, bringing world-class opera to Cleaver Square and Brockwell Park.
A 55-piece orchestra will be joined by outstanding professional soloists and a mass community chorus for a programme featuring some of opera’s most thrilling and best-loved music, including highlights from Puccini’s Turandot, Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus and Bernstein’s Candide.
The first performance takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Cleaver Square, Kennington, on Saturday 22 August at 6.30pm, followed by a second performance in Brockwell Park on Sunday 23 August.
Audiences are invited to bring a picnic, gather with family and friends and enjoy the power of a full orchestra and operatic voices beneath the summer sky. Whether a lifelong opera lover or discovering it for the first time, The Opera Gala promises an uplifting, accessible and memorable musical experience.
Both performances are free to attend, with donations welcomed to support Brixton Chamber Orchestra and Pegasus Opera Company’s work bringing ambitious musical experiences to communities across South London.
