Labour’s Bell Ribeiro-Addy has been elected MP for Clapham and Brixton Hill

Labour’s Bell Ribeiro-Addy has been elected MP for Clapham and Brixton Hill. Ribeiro-Addy, 39, won 24,166 votes. 

Ben Curtis, the Liberal Democrat candidate finished second with 6161 votes. Green Party candidate Shâo-Lan Yuen was third with 5,768 votes. Conservative Party candidate Asha Saroy finished fourth, with 4,360 votes.

Ribeiro-Addy was Labour MP for the now abolished constituency of Streatham until Parliament was dissolved at the end of May. She was first elected at the 2019 election, when she won 54.8 per cent of the vote.

The new seat of Clapham and Brixton Hill is made up of parts of the former Streatham and Vauxhall constituencies. It covers Brixton Hill, most of Clapham, Stockwell and Tulse Hill. 

Ribeiro-Addy’s victory was announced in the early hours of Friday (July 5) at The Oval in South London.
