AFC Wimbledon have signed Steven Sessegnon after the defender left Wigan Athletic on a free transfer this summer.
Sessegnon, 26, brother of Fulham’s Ryan, has signed a two-year deal and is the Dons’ second signing of the summer after centre-back Dan Sweeney joined from Stevenage.
Full-back Sessegnon, who can play on the right and left, had loan spells at Bristol City, Plymouth Argyle and Charlton Athletic before leaving the Cottagers for Wigan in 2023.
He has made 146 career appearances.
“When the opportunity to come to Wimbledon came about, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get myself going again and show what I’m about,” Sessegnon said on the club’s website. “It’s a lovely stadium to come and play at, I can’t wait to be out there with it full and the fans cheering.”
Manager Johnnie Jackson added: “Steven’s a really experienced signing that’s played for some big clubs at this level and above. He comes to us with a point to prove, he wants to get back to playing regularly. He brings good versatility, he can play either side as a wing-back or as a full-back.”
