NATHAN Jones says Charlton Athletic supporters are a major factor behind the Addicks’ surge for the play-offs and automatic promotion.

Charlton go into Saturday’s game against Lincoln City at The Valley on the back of eight successive home wins.

There were 17,278 in SE7 for Charlton’s last home game, the 4-0 win against Huddersfield Town.

Charlton are fourth in the League One table, ten points above Reading in seventh and six points off second-place Wrexham.

“All I can say to Charlton fans is just keep doing what you’re doing,” Jones said. “They turn up and they’ve got right behind the team. They’re a big, big part of what we’re trying to achieve and the momentum that we’ve gained.”

This weekend is the tenth anniversary of the nine-mile Upbeats walk.

Jones added: “The support they give to the Upbeats is truly outstanding. I have no doubt that they will continue to do that, but if they need any prompting from me then, yeah, let’s get behind it and do everything we can.

“They’re a very strong-willed bunch, so I know exactly where their heart will be on the weekend.”

Meanwhile, Jones gave a update on Miles Leaburn (quad), Daniel Kanu (ankle) and Ashley Maynard-Brewer (groin) ahead of the game against twelfth-place Lincoln.

Jones said: “Miles is furthest away, Daniel is not too far and Ashley’s actually back training. We won’t see Miles for the rest of this season, but with Daniel we really hope we do.”
