Ben Chilwell set to be re-integrated and train with first team as Chelsea fail to find ‘solutions’ for him to leave

BEN Chilwell is set to rejoin the main Chelsea training group after the club failed to find a “solution” for him to leave.

England international Chilwell, 27, was one of a number of senior players training apart from the first-team squad. Raheem Sterling and Romelu Lukaku left for Arsenal and Napoli but Chilwell remained.

The Blues were reported to be trying to line up a move to Turkey for the defender, but he is now set to stay.

“We will sit with him and find solutions,” boss Enzo Maresca said ahead of the Blues’ fixture at AFC Bournemouth Jon Saturday.

“The reason why he was training apart is because the idea was for him to leave. We didn’t find solutions and he is here.

“He is probably going to start training with us. I saw him this morning and he’s okay.

Meanwhile, Maresca has insisted the saga over co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali trying to buy each other out is not affecting him or the squad.

“If I spend my energy on something different then it’s not worth it, my focus is on tomorrow’s game,” Maresca said.

“The other things are things I cannot control. I spoke with Todd when we played Manchester City and Behdad just days ago.

“I’m speaking with both, there’s no problems at all. I’m focused on the pitch.

“The players are professional to understand that these things are things we can’t control so the focus is the pitch, the way we need to improve.”
