Includes relatives, and descendants of members of the original choir
Côr y Boro | Borough Welsh Choir will mark a decade since its reformation with a special 10th Anniversary Concert on Saturday 11 July 2026 at the historic Borough Welsh Congregational Chapel, which has stood in Southwark for more than 150 years.
Billed as the choir’s “annual summer spectacular,” this year’s concert holds special significance as Côr y Boro celebrates 10 years since the choir was reformed, reviving a musical legacy that stretches back more than a century. The original Borough Welsh Chapel Choir famously won the National Eisteddfod in Liverpool in 1929. That legacy was revived in 2016 by Mike Williams, one of the chapel’s organists and musical director of Eschoir, giving rise to today’s mixed four-part choir – which has included relatives, and descendants of members of the original choir.

Since reforming, Côr y Boro has gone on to compete at several National Eisteddfodau, finishing in second place in 2019, and has performed in a striking range of venues across the capital and around the UK – from Buckingham Palace and the Principality Stadium to The Shard and London’s Thames Tideway “super sewer.”
The anniversary concert will be a celebration of Welsh culture in the capital, as well as marking the choir’s milestone. The programme will draw on Côr y Boro’s huge back catalogue of songs, alongside performances from soloists, music on the harp and piano, poetry, and more.
Tickets for the anniversary concert are priced at £15 (plus booking fee), with all proceeds going to support the choir’s ongoing activities. The ticket price includes
